I have been asking myself this question for a while now when is it time to buy a new car???

My car is 11 years old. 

It has 218000 miles on her.

Her name is Betsy.

I have had Betsy for 7 years.

This is the longest that I have ever kept a car.

The thing is I enjoy not having a car note.

Yet things happen to Betsy and I tell myself that it's time to buy a car.

The big thing is that I have enjoyed not having a car note.

Just about everything under Betsy's hood is new.

Well to answer my own question its time to buy a car when you have planned for it in your budget.

You have saved money for a down payment.

You have no other choice but to buy a car because it is no longer safe to drive your present car.

As for Betsy even if I buy a new car I will keep her.

She is still reliable and you never know when a car can break down.
