Upgrading

Budgeting, Lifestyle, News, Renee Says

I recently moved into a new neighborhood 8 months ago.  I noticed something interesting with the families that live here.  Most of the people who have children move by the elementary school.  They live in that home until their children are ready to go to high school.  They sell their current home and opt for an upgrade of more space with bedrooms, baths or yard size.   You could gain equity in the property and have money to upgrade when your children are older and need more space.

It got me to thinking about other things that we can upgrade in life.

How much pressure would it take off of a marriage if you opted to purchase a 100,000 home instead of a 300,000 home at the start of your marriage???  You can invest in your children's education for college.  Why not have money to take your family on vacation instead of being cash strapped and not be able to enjoy life.

Upgrade as life goes on.

The same applies with jewelry, cars, vacations, and etc you can always upgrade.

If you are thinking about making a large cash or credit purchase think about all of your options before you make your final decision.

The same holds true about buying a used car.  I'm not saying go buy a 10 year old car.  But a 2or 3 year old car with low mileage could be a great option.  The car has already gotten the kinks out.  You're paying for the car what it is really worth.  Unlike buying a brand new car that depreciates when you drive it off the show room floor.

There is always an opportunity to upgrade.  Start out small and work your way up.

You don't have to get the whole pie at one time.  You can get a piece of the pie and be satisfied with money left over to enjoy life.
