Trick or Treat
As a child I remember going to Trick or Treat for Halloween.
We would say trick or treat; smell my feet give me something good to eat.
As Halloween has been approaching it got me to thinking about how we play trick or treat with our budget, credit, debt, savings, retirement, and life happens fund.
You Trick or Treat yourself with credit card debt is when you tell yourself that you're going to pay the bill off when the statement comes in.
Making purchases with your credit card is not a treat if you have no plan to pay off the debt.
You Trick or Treat yourself when you do not live by a budget.
Knowing how you spend your money is no trick it's a treat not living from pay check to pay check.
The bottom line does not lie.
Pull out a piece of paper and write down everything that you spend money on each day.
Compare your income verses your debt.
Look for areas you can save money.
There are things that you need to stop tricking yourself about when it comes to wasting money (cable bill, cell phone, eating out and etc.) where you can stop living from pay check to pay check.
You Trick or Treat yourself by not know what is on your credit report.
Every year you have the right to get a free copy of your credit report.
There is no trick to www.annualcreditreport.com.
The treat is know what is on your credit before you make a major purchase.
You Trick or Treat yourself into not saving money in a "life happens" fund, savings, or retirement.
Saving money is only hard and overwhelming when you trick yourself in to believing that you can not do it.
The treat to a life happens funds is starting with a small amount each paycheck.
A little goes a long way once it starts to add up.
Set goals to save for your saving, retirement, and "life happens" fund.
When you have a goal you can see where you are going.
Having money in your saving account that is the real treat.
Do you play trick or treat with your finances???
