This year I have made the decision to be debt free from unsecured debt.
So to do this I'm not going to use my credit cards.
I took them out of my purse.
In doing so when I need to purchase clothes, shoes or personal items I going to buy gift cards to the stores that I frequent.
I'm also including things like pedicures, facials and etc. into this program.
When I need to purchase something or treat myself to pampering I need to have that available on my gift cards or I won't be purchasing it.
The point is to not put new debt on my credit cards.
I also don't want to disturb my budget.
In the past when I lived from pay date to pay date I had a tendency to want to make up for the time that I didn't have money.
So I would spend excessively when my company commission checks would come in or if we had a great week of sales.
You may not have a business. You may be living from paycheck to paycheck. Its the same.
We try to make up for what we think makes us feel good.
I don't need anything when it comes to clothes and shoes.
There are some things that I would like to purchase.
The big difference is recognizing in your life needs and wants.
Using the gift cards is also a good way to keep from over spending.
This is a good way to later plan for Christmas shopping, birthdays and other gift ideas.
Are you willing to shop with gift cards???
