Just For Fun, News, Renee Says

New Years superstitions always interest me in what people feel that they need to do to bring in the new year.

So I decided to ask a few ladies at the beauty salon what are some of the things that they do or don't do bringing in the new year.

One of the most consistent is a man has to walk in the door of the house first.  The reason is so that you won't be bothered with women all year.

Another is eating greens (collard, mustard, turnip) for prosperity.

Making sure the Christmas Tree is put away before the New Year.

Your home needs to be clean.

Eating spare ribs and sauerkraut.

Don't wash clothes on New Year's you will wash people out of your life.

Black eye peas is a must.  My granny told me that they give you hard luck.

The way you start your year is the way it will end.

There are many more.  These have been passed down from generation to generation.

I think that many of them are very funny.

If you accept the good you have to accept the bad.

I start my year off by going to church.  I have found in my life experiences that my year goes better when I do.

You can start or end your year the way you like.  Just remember that you only live once.  Make the most of the new year.

What are you New Year's superstitions???
