Many people think of their legacy as money that they leave their children. Sometimes they won't enjoy the golden years of life trying to save the money for their children.
Sometimes when all that is left is money it can hurt your children.
Each parent knows his/her children well enough to know if they will hurt themselves with a large amount of money.
Your legacy is the entire life that you live.
I believe that part of your legacy is the life lessons that you teach your children and grandchildren. These lessons can cover every area of life. These lessons can save them a life time of pain and misery.
The older I get the more I value the stories and lessons that my Bigmoma has shared with me over the years. Some of them I did not understand as a child. However, many of them come back to me as I make decisions in my life.
The other part of your legacy is the life that you have lived in front of your family. It is easy to tell someone how to live or what decision that they should make. It is truly another when your walk and your talk are the same.
Write down the life lessons that you want to share with your children and grandchildren. Start to tell the stories to them now. It will make the world of difference in their life years down the road.
At 89 Bigmoma is starting to repeat some of her stories and lessons. Every now and then she will slip in a new one. Each time the story or lesson is shared I gain new prospectives about life.
What is your legacy???
