Budgeting, News, Renee Says

Do a have a solution do make your Christmas memorable without going into a lot of debt??

I have the solution for you.

Do remember the LAYAWAY?  Where you can put a down payment on items and pay on them for up to eight weeks.  You have to make your payments every two weeks.

By using the layaway you can avoid getting into a lot of debt.  Also this allows you to not use your credit cards.

1. You can surf the internet to find companies that are offering the layaway as an option.  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27582079/ns/business-holiday_retail/

2. You have to come up with a budget for your Christmas spending.  This includes gifts, decorations, dinner, and entertainment.  You may have to cut back on some of the gifts that you normally buy.

Christmas is not an excuse to pay your bills late or not at all.

3. You need to have a dollar amount for each person on your list.  The dollar amount should be realistic.  You must make sure that you do not go over this amount.  You can come up with some creative gifts for people.  It is the thought that counts.  I don't mean re-gifting something that you didn't want yourself.

4.  Now it's time to go shopping at one of the stores that offers layaway.  Be sure to read the fine print to their layaway policy.  Look for items that are on sale that can be put into layaway.

5. Make that you make your layaway payments on time.

Enjoy your holiday season without being in debt.  That way you don't play scrooge when the holidays are over because you are knee deep in debt.
