I was recently talking to a woman whose daughter was about to purchase her first car.
She took her father with her so she wouldn't be taken advantage of during the process.
One of the salesman told her father to step up so she could afford the car he was trying to sell her after they didn't agree on the price.
Needless to say her father let him have it and she didn't buy that car.
It got me to thinking about how many times I have gone to get work on my car or had work done at home and men tried to take advantage of me because I was a woman. They thought that I didn't know any better.
Ladies and gentlemen if you are in the market to buy a new or used car and you don't have good negotiation skills take some one with you that has knowledge of what you are buying and can get a deal to happen.
I don't know why it is that men want to take advantage of women or men when it comes to cars. But they do.
Shop around on the internet before you go to the lot.
That is a good place to comparison shop without running all over the place.
This will also give you bargaining tools when it comes to the price.
Also you can go to the lot and look around when they are closed so that you don't get harassed by salesmen.
Make sure that you test drive the car.
If it is used run my your mechanics shop and have him check the car out for you.
Make sure you have money for your down payment.
Also you want to know your score before you have the car lot pull your credit.
If you can get pre-approved at your bank or credit union first it will save you from being at the lot all day or making more than one trip to the lot.
Are you prepared to buy a car as a woman???
