This life can be very pressing. We have things in this life that hurt us. From those wounds we carry bags of stuff.
One of my favorite artist is Erykah Badu. She can be a little extreme. She made a song called Bag Lady.
In this song the lyrics say:
Bag lady you gone hurt your back
Dragging all them bags like that
I guess nobody ever told you
All you must hold on to
Is you, is you, is you
Carrying around old baggage only hurts you. When you have bad credit, foreclosure, repossession, cosigned, and other things. We put them into a bag that we drag around. It becomes are baggage.
The song goes on to say: One day all them bags gone get in your way
Letting go of the negativity of past mistakes can be very hard. I have walked around with some of my own baggage for years. Not realizing that it keeps you from having peace of mind.
Carrying baggage can keep you from having productive health, mind, finances, and relationships.
The song also says: Let it go, Let it go Let it go
You have to let the disappoints and failures from the past go.
Whether it is about your finances, credit, or relationships.
Baggage keeps you in a hole.
Baggage can also keep you from moving forward.
So for me I have finally let go of the baggage that I carried about filing for chapter 7 bankruptcy, foreclosure, car repossession and co-signing. This baggage has haunted for me for a very long time.
I felt like a failure.
I felt used.
I felt ashamed.
Having gone through all of those things has made me a better person.
I realized that bankruptcy, foreclosure, and repossession were not created because of me.
Many people go through these life changing situations.
Having to file a bankruptcy does not make me less than any other human being.
You must take 100% responsibility for the part that you play in the baggage that you carry.
Today is trash day.
Take a deep breath and drop your baggage at the curb before you walk back in the house.
Make room for a new day in your life.
Are you going to put your baggage on the curb???
