Now as the typical tax season is coming to an end.

Federal indictments for those preparing fraudulent tax returns are being handed down.

The indictments for the eight people range in refunds up to 1.87 million dollars refunds processed by the IRS.

The taxpayers that participated in these activities will be fully responsible now liable for the true taxes they may owe, restitution of the refund, plus penalties.

There use to be a time when people were afraid of the IRS.

It does not seem to be that way now people are willing to face jail time in order to get a refund.

I know that people think that the economy is not doing well.

However, going to some one's house to get my taxes done does not sit well with me.

If I have problems I want the person to be able to fix the problem.

I also want it to be a professional that I can contact later if I have questions or concerns.

You should want someone who can look at your particular situation and give you advice that will help you in the future.

When you don't have any money it may be tempting to go for the extra money.

Is it really worth it???

Don't let greed influence you to going after a bigger refund than you are entitled to from the IRS.

For a tax return preparation checklist click www.daytontaxpreparation.com.

Keep in mind that if the person that is preparing your return talks about you owning your own business and you do not have a business that is considered fraud.  Or if they tell you they have children that you can claim to get a larger refund and these are not children that are yours or that you really take care of this is also considered fraud.

By committing tax fraud you could lose the possibility of getting financial aid for school, section-8 housing, title 20 for day care, medicaid for you and your children or even go to jail.

Making a false claim for refund can bring up to 5 years in prison, $250,000 in fines, plus restitution, on each count.

So remember that you can have hefty consequences for getting more of a refund than you are entitled to.

The indictments that were handed down are not from this year.

You may get by but you do not get away.

So if someone offers you a hefty refund that you are not entitled to run and don't look back.

Are you willing to go to jail for a tax refund???
